TODAY’S NOTE FROM MY HEART TO YOURS includes a musing about riding the wild waves of life (EVEN when it’s hard and overwhelming) and an all-time favorite quote that I hope will inspire and meet you in the midst of whatever is goin’ on in your world today.

Let’s start with this notion of riding life’s waves. ‘Cuz, without a doubt, there are some big waves barreling towards most of us these days … I woke up today with a few on the horizon (how about you?).

Here’s how it connects with my life (and I hope, YOURS). ❤️ I “accidentally” fell in love with surfing a few years ago when I stumbled on a little-known and amazing surf break while on a retreat. It remains one of the happiest accidents of my life. Over and over, I have received numerous nuggets of insight from surf instructors. What they have shared with me has profoundly impacted and informed my life … on and off my board. One of my favorite notions is about riding “switchfoot” – which is about changing up how we do things.

Riding switchfoot is powerful stuff, a force for feel-good change.

My friend, if you – like me – are inclined to overdo, if you find yourself pressed right now, often running late or up too late, might you try this switchfoot stance? BE still a bit more.

Whatever you feel nudged to switch up, bask in the truth that you are so very loved, companioned, and supported. You are not alone … ever.

Take a bit more time and dive into the PoP (Place of Pause) – below – and be still for a beat or two. Ahh. If this notion of switchfooting through life intrigues you, read more in this excerpt from my Ablaze books.

For a 10-minute guided Place of Pause (PoP), read the full excerpt from the Ablaze books, watch this video about today’s PoP, or check out the complete video PoP series (all are free).

Now, to one of my favorite quotes of all time. This, too is about creating MOMENTUM in life, as we play with that “switchfoot” idea of changing up how and why we do what we do.

“If to be feelingly alive to the sufferings of my fellow-creatures is to be a fanatic,
I am one of the most incurable fanatics ever permitted to be at large.”
-William Wilberforce, slave-trade abolitionist

I want this for myself … and for all of us. May we each be “incurable fanatics” about caring for those who are struggling and suffering … willing and committed to act with love and compassion as we move through our everyday, ordinary lives.

In this spirit of inspired ACTion, I share this invitation with you: Our partners in our two Seeds community fundraising endeavors this month(*just 5 days to go for each!*) are doing just that. Would you GIVE WHAT YOU CAN to either (or both)?
