WELCOME, DEAR ONE! SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE.

Before we dive in, a quick note for anyone new here:

ROOTED in Jesus is a branch of Seeds of Exchange that grew out of a simple longing: to create space for people to encounter Jesus more deeply in everyday life. Each week, on Thursday mornings, we gather from living rooms, coffee shops, offices, cars, and kitchen tables around the world to pray, open Scripture, share stories, enCOURAGE one another, and make room for the One who loves us most.

No perfect faith required.
No insider knowledge necessary.
Just come as you are.
We’re so glad you’re here.
Pull up a chair … and join us from wherever you are.

You belong.
You are so very, very loved.
Join us anytime — all are welcome!

Connected to the Power Source

The night before our recent Supper • Scripture • Story gathering, a transformer exploded in our neighborhood.

Around 2:30 in the morning, a deafening boom jolted us awake. The lights went out. Smoke alarms and appliances began beeping. Our family wandered through the house wondering what had happened, hoping the power would return quickly.

The next morning, as I gathered supplies for the evening, I found myself walking through our dark basement, instinctively reaching for light switches that couldn’t possibly work. It was muscle memory. Flip the switch. Try again. Flip another one.

And in that quiet moment, I sensed the Holy Spirit whisper:

This is what life feels like when you’re disconnected from the true power source.

How often do we do exactly that?

We keep flipping switches that have never had the power to light our lives. We look to accomplishment, certainty, approval, busyness, control, even our own strength, hoping one more effort will somehow produce peace.

Meanwhile, Jesus patiently invites us back to the only Source that never runs dry.

That image stayed with me throughout the evening as our community gathered at Jennifer Lloyd’s beautiful home.

If you’ve never met Jennifer, one of the first things you’ll notice is that she creates spaces where people can breathe. Through her ministry, Grace Overflows, she has a remarkable gift for helping people slow down, become aware of God’s presence, and encounter His love in deeply personal ways. It felt especially fitting that this gathering took place within the walls of a home that has become such a place of welcome and healing for so many.

Jennifer shared stories of God’s surprising faithfulness—dreams quietly planted years before they ever blossomed, unexpected provision, seasons of loss, and the countless ways the Father continues to write a better story than we could have imagined for ourselves. Again and again, her message came back to the same simple truth:

God sees us. God provides. God is faithful. Even when we cannot yet see what He is growing.

One encouragement from the evening especially lingered with me.

The difference between a cacophony and a symphony is the pause between the notes.

Isn’t that true?

So much of life feels like noise. We hurry from one responsibility to the next, carrying questions, disappointments, hopes, and heartaches. Yet over and over again, Scripture reminds us that God often meets His people in the pause.

Not because He wasn’t speaking before.

Because sometimes we become still enough to hear Him.

Throughout the evening, stories unfolded around the room. People prayed for one another. There were tears. Laughter. Moments of holy silence. Gentle reminders that none of us are meant to walk alone.

One of my favorite moments came near the end when Jennifer reminded us, “We need each other.”

What a beautiful picture of the Kingdom of God.

We are not simply individuals trying harder to follow Jesus. We are family. We strengthen one another. We remind one another where the true power comes from. Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is simply to sit beside someone, listen well, and pray.

As I think back on the evening, I’m struck by how ordinary it all looked from the outside.

A shared meal.

Friends gathered in a home.

Stories.

Scripture.

Prayer.

A few intentional pauses.

And yet that is so often how the Kingdom comes—not always through spectacular moments, but through ordinary people making room for an extraordinary God.

Maybe that’s the invitation for all of us this week.

Pause.

Reconnect to the true Power Source.

Open our hands again.

And trust that the God who planted every good seed in our hearts is still faithfully bringing them to life, often in ways we never could have imagined.

If Jennifer’s story resonates with you, I encourage you to spend a little time exploring Grace Overflows. Whether you’re longing for deeper healing, a listening ear, or simply a place to encounter the presence of Jesus, Jennifer carries a beautiful gift of hospitality and compassionate, healing prayer. I am deeply grateful for her friendship and for the ways she continues to create spaces where people experience the overflowing grace of God.

May we all stay connected to the One who never stops filling, renewing, and overflowing our lives.
