I snapped this selfie with these kids on a trip to the far west of Nepal in 2016. Take a breath and a beat – take a PoP (Place of Pause) – because this isn’t an easy story. But it’s an  I M P O R T A N T  one, so stick with me.

These beautyFULL and bright kids are the children of women in forced prostitution in the brothel across the street (many of whom were trafficked and are enslaved today). For a few hours, we played games, snapped more selfies, and had some snacks – you know, the sort of thing kids ’round the world love to do.

I was in Nepal with an organization that is preventing, rescuing, and rehabilitating survivors of human trafficking. They reminded me that amidst the stories of hopelessness, there is HOPE. And, amidst my questions of overwhelmed impotence “what can I possibly do to make a difference in the lives of these kiddos?” … they invited me to join them in their warrior-fight. There and then, I vowed to do what I could with them and others fighting for freedom.

This journey and many other synchronous happenings led me to the sisterhood of Her Future Coalition, our Seeds Fundraising partner this month. Learn more and donate to our community fundraiser, Forever free & surviving human trafficking. These funds will provide rent for a safe space and high quality after-school tutoring for one year to 60 children of women in forced prostitution in India, a crucial step in breaking the cycle of slavery and poverty.

Thanks to many of you, we reached our January goal of $2,000 (woot woooot!) – and we’re rollin’ into February, with another $2,000 goal to fuel the work of Her Future Coalition – ‘cuz we’ve got more to do with these amazing sistahs! Together, let’s reach out with LOVE and GIVE WHAT WE CAN to make life better for children and their mommas in the Bowbazar red-light district of Kolkata, India.

My friend, a blessing for our community today:

When the dignity, security,
& well-being of those who BElong to us
—one or many—
is being challenged,
may we
do something.

May we shout & standTALL,
be upstanders,
&
be
warriors
of
love,
together.

Dear one, remember to email me any requests for prayer or extra love/juju that YOU need today.
Don’t go it alone. ❤️

You are loved.
We belong to each other.
