The Welcome Table
Food. Culture. Community.
Gather for a global celebration of story, flavor, and belonging.
Join us for Cultivate: The Welcome Table—one of our most beloved gatherings at Seeds of Exchange.
RSVP below, please—so we can have a seat at the table just for you.
This night is so much more than a shared meal.
It’s a feast of culture, story, belonging, and celebration—rooted in love and overflowing with joy.
And at its heart, it’s an invitation into compassionate activism—ordinary love, lived out in extraordinary ways.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Everyone. Truly.
You, your spouse, your bestie, your neighbor, your teen, your grandma
The weary, the curious, the joyful, the seeking
The foodies, the activists, the storytellers
The introverts, the extroverts, the not-sure-what-to-expect-ers
All are welcome.
Come as you are—leave a little more whole (and happy).
Freely share this invite with anyone you’d love to gather with.
FOOD + FUNDRAISER
This gathering carries a deeper intention for the evening. We hope this won’t simply be a meal, but a meaningful, shared experience—one that draws us together in a spirit of community, generosity, and purpose.
We’ll gather around a delicious Ethiopian- and Somalian-inspired dinner, creating a warm, communal table where story, laughter, and connection can unfold naturally together. (There will be both meat and vegetarian options, along with some gluten-free offerings.)
This evening also opens the door to a meaningful opportunity to support children at Karamara Hospital in Ethiopia—where the effects of drought and limited resources deeply impact families and access to care. One of our storytellers, Halima’s sister, works directly at the hospital, and funds raised will go straight into her hands to be distributed directly to families in need. | View photos from Halima’s recent trip to Ethiopia HERE.
Just $50 provides food for a child in the hospital for an entire month. In our dreams, we’ll raise enough to care for 20 children—an $1,000 expression of love in action.
No need to bring ANYthing—simply come. We’ll have PLENTY.
And if you feel moved, you’re invited to give a little or a lot.
This is compassionate activism—simple, meaningful, and shared.
DONATE
If you’d like to be part of supporting children at Karamara Hospital, you can give in whatever way feels right to you.
Every gift—small or large—goes directly to families through Halima’s sister, who is serving on the ground at the hospital.
You’re welcome to bring cash to give directly to Halima, or give here:
- Venmo / Halima: @Halima-8157 (if prompted, the last 4 digits of Halima’s mobile: 1610)
- Paypal / Seeds of Exchange (please include note: “Halima”)
Thank you for being part of this expression of love in action. All funds donated will be given to Halima and her community in Ethiopia.

WHAT TO EXPECT
6 pm — Gather + Feast
We’ll share a meal, connect around the table, and enjoy the beauty of being together—new friends and old—guided by soulFULL Seeds questions that help us truly hear one another’s hearts and stories.
7:15 — PoP + Stories
We’ll shift—family-style—into the living room for a PoP (Place of Pause), a moment to BE and breathe… and then step into the heartbeat of the night.
OUR STORYTELLERS
Come and hear the compelling, courageous, and deeply human stories of our sisters—stories that carry both beauty and weight, resilience and hope.
Shamso, author of The Jungle Didn’t Kill Me, will share her remarkable journey across 11 countries before arriving here in Colorado. Through conversation and excerpts from her book, she opens a window into survival, strength, and the quiet, enduring courage that carries a person across borders and into new beginnings.
Her story offers a powerful glimpse into the realities of displacement and the resilience it takes to keep moving forward with dignity and hope.
Shamso’s book is available on Amazon:

Or reserve an autographed copy by emailing Sarah DT and pick it up at our house on May 22. 💛
Halima will share her story through poetry and conversation alongside her beloved friend, Christa—an experience that is powerful, intimate, and deeply moving. Through her words, we are invited into the landscape of her childhood—where tradition, family, identity, and survival are woven together in ways many of us have never known. Her voice carries both tenderness and truth, honoring the strength of her people while giving language to stories often left unspoken.
These are not just stories to be heard—
they are stories to be felt, honored, and carried.
Lean in. Listen. Learn.
Be inspired and ignited—not only in your own story, but in the story that reminds us we belong to one another.
