WELCOME, LOVE! SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE.

Before we dive in, a quick note for anyone new here:

ROOTED in Jesus is a branch of Seeds of Exchange that grew out of a simple longing: to create space for people to encounter Jesus more deeply in everyday life. Each week, we gather from living rooms, coffee shops, offices, cars, and kitchen tables around the world to pray, open Scripture, share stories, enCOURAGE one another, and make room for the One who loves us most.

No perfect faith required.
No insider knowledge necessary.
Just come as you are.
We’re so glad you’re here.
Pull up a chair … and join us from wherever you are.

You belong.
You are so very, very loved.
Join us anytime — all are welcome!

A theme has been quietly weaving its way through our ROOTED gatherings lately.

Last week, during our Contend + Connect conversation with Lauren Jacobs, we reflected on a powerful truth:

Dreams deferred are not dreams denied.

Lauren shared honestly from a season of waiting, disappointment, unanswered questions, and hopes that had taken far longer to unfold than she ever imagined.

Yet through it all, she discovered that God’s delays are not God’s absence.
The dream may be delayed.
The promise may still be unfolding.
But God’s favor remains.

As I sat with Lauren’s words throughout the week, I found myself thinking about another person who knew something about waiting:
Joshua.

Joshua spent decades walking beside Moses before stepping into the calling God had for him.
Decades.
Years of preparation.
Years of obedience.
Years of learning to trust.
And when the moment finally came, God’s first words were not instructions about strategy.

They were reminders about presence.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

And that’s where our Devotions + Prayer gathering landed this week:

God’s presence fuels our courage, and God’s guidance reveals His strategy.

When the Dream Is Delayed

Many of us are carrying dreams.

Prayers.
Longings.
Promises.
Relationships.
Callings.
Healing journeys.
Kingdom hopes.
Some are fresh.

Others have been sitting quietly in our hearts for years.
Maybe even decades.

And when those dreams don’t unfold according to our timeline, it can be tempting to believe that God has forgotten.
That somehow the delay means denial.

Yet Joshua’s story reminds us that God often does profound work in the waiting.
Preparation is not punishment.
Waiting is not abandonment.
Delay is not denial.

And while we wait, God offers something even more valuable than a detailed roadmap:
His WITHness.

The Power Comes from His WITHness

One of the recurring themes of our gathering was this:

The power comes from His WITHness.

Not from striving.
Not from trying harder.
Not from figuring everything out.

The invitation is not to manufacture courage.
The invitation is to remember Who is with us.

The same God who walked with Joshua.
The same God who sustained Lauren through deferred dreams.
The same God who remains faithful in every season of our lives.

He is with us.
And that changes everything.

God Still Has a Strategy

The beautiful thing about Joshua’s story is that God wasn’t simply present.

He was purposeful.
Strategic.
Specific.

Again and again, God showed Joshua what the next faithful step looked like.
Not the next ten years.
Not the entire journey.
Just the next step.

Perhaps that’s why one of the simplest prayers from this week’s gathering felt so powerful:

“Jesus, show me Your Kingdom strategy for my life today.”

Not tomorrow.

Not five years from now.
Today.
Show me the next faithful step.
Show me where You are already at work.
Show me how to c0-mission with You.

Stay Strong and Steady

The gathering concluded with Joshua’s words at the end of his life in Joshua 23:

“Stay strong and steady.”

What a beautiful invitation.

Especially for those carrying dreams that have taken longer than expected.
Especially for those walking through seasons of uncertainty.
Especially for those wondering if God still remembers what He promised.

Stay strong.
Stay steady.
Stay close to Jesus.

Because courage grows where God’s presence is trusted.
And dreams often bloom in places where faith quietly perseveres.

As Lauren reminded us last week:

Dreams deferred are not dreams denied.

And as Joshua reminds us:

The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

May we hold both truths close this day.
