We hit our Seeds Giving Fund goal, as a floodgate of generosity was unleashed to provide Security & Health for Communities in Need. | January-February, 2022 – Nepal

$7,016 Donated!

You can still give, if you’d like. More support for our sisters in Nepal is greatly needed to combat human trafficking, address medical crises, respond to gender-based violence, and equip female entrepreneurs.

WHY this MATTERS …

What we LOVE about this is that we have the opportunity to personally connect with the community in Nepal for whom we’re raising funds. What an honor and privilege!

Let’s CARE, together, for a community in Nepal, who are in great need of security and health care.

Let’s EXTEND, together, hospitality of spirit and tangibly care for the needs of our sisters and brothers.

Let’s BRIDGE, together, whatever clamors to separate and isolate us with tangible acts and words of love.

Fundraising Partnership

We are honored be a part of the mission of HER (Himalayan Entrepreneur Resources), which is being led by our long-time friend, Devisara Hannah Badi. Hannah is the lead storyteller and has been our primary partner in Nepal in the crafting of the just-released book, No Longer Untouchable: A Story of Human Trafficking, Heroism, and Hope. We love and trust her, and have seen for many years Hannah’s tenacious commitment to find ways to care for the needs of her own people, the Badi of Nepal.

We believe that all women have the right to holistic wellness and the freedom to provide for themselves and their families without threat to their physical, mental, and emotional well being. That is why we started HER. -Devisara Hannah Badi

HER is an empowerment initiative in Nepal that gives health, safety, and autonomy to marginalized women, so they live free from sexual exploitation and abuse. They accomplish this by:

Addressing Medical Crises. Women receive health education and feminine hygiene products.

Addressing Gender-Based Violence. Women receive trauma-informed education and learn about their legal rights.

Equipping Female Entrepreneurs. Women receive business grants, accountability, mentorship, ongoing education, and legal protection.

WE WERE FORCED INTO PROSTITUTION. IT WAS NOT OUR CHOICE. -Badi women

HER was founded in response to a caste system that’s created enormous economic disparities, human trafficking, and a culture that shuns women to the point that they haven’t been able to take care of and protect themselves.

Why HER Empowers Women

The women HER serves are often in danger of being trafficked. There is a lack of opportunity for women born into a lower caste in Nepal, often putting them in vulnerable situations of being trafficked – both willingly and unwillingly as a way for them to earn a living wage. This fundraiser will provide vital vocational training for women so they can provide for themselves and their families.

Over 80% of the women HER encounters are suffering from vaginal infections. Because there is little education around their bodies, many of the women born into lower castes live in constant discomfort, suffering from disease and infections – almost all of which are preventable and curable. These women are also prevented from attending school, going to work, or staying in their own homes during their period. Funds will be provide health education and feminine hygiene products.

As part of our call to all to be an everyday philanthropist, we regularly spotlight a project or program in the world. Our partner’s focus is in at least one of these five categories: human rights, education, health, community emergencies, and art-activism. We are blessed with a huge pool of changemakers in our community – so there is never a lack of trusted organizations with whom to partner.

This sort of “everyday philanthropy” is about an unrestrained generosity rooted in the reality of your everyday life. Generosity feels good. It is part of your purpose on the planet. It finds ways to share with others the treasure trove of whatever you have and whatever you love. It makes a difference with your small and large acts alike … living with a commitment and connection to your sisters and brothers near and far. Explore and discover your unique – right here and now – calling to be an everyday philanthropist today.

I get it: These stories and the very invitation to give and to BE philanthropists isn’t always comfortable. Or easy. Sometimes it’s the world’s pain pricking our hearts that wakes us up to see – and say yes! – to our destiny.

So, today and together, let’s dispute the suggestion that philanthropy is an exclusive club only for those deemed wealthy. Today and together, let’s dispute that the only thing that matters and makes a difference is giving in “big” ways. The movement that will be unleashed when we live as generously unrestrained philanthropists WILL light up the world.

You are loved.
We belong to each other.
Let’s standTALL together and light up the world!
