WHY this MATTERS …
What we LOVE about this is that we have the opportunity to personally connect with the community in Thailand for whom we’re raising funds. What an honor and privilege!
Let’s CARE, together, for a community in Thailand, who are in great need of security and health care.
Let’s EXTEND, together, hospitality of spirit and tangibly care for the needs of our sisters.
Let’s BRIDGE, together, whatever clamors to separate and isolate us with tangible acts and words of love.
Fundraising Partnership
Freedom Home, led by our trusted friends at The Exodus Road, is a safe house and mentorship program in Thailand that serves adult female survivors of sex trafficking and sex exploitation. Located in an area where the sex industry is rampant, this program offers immediate shelter and care for women in crisis. In addition, it offers women a one-year program that includes: trauma-informed therapy, life skills classes, counseling, medical care, community internships, and job skills training.
Freedom Home provides both an immediate safe house for women that need crisis care, as well as a one-year mentorship program that includes trauma-informed therapy, life skills classes, education or entrepreneurship training, and community internships. The individualized care approach, coupled with counseling and the modeling of healthy relationships, is their clients’ strongest hope of breaking free from a cycle of exploitation.
As we talked with Sola (listen to our 17-minute conversation or check out the link below), the regional aftercare coordinator of the program, she told us that one of the gaps within the vocational training offerings are English lessons. These are typically contracted one-on-one at a rate of around $100 per month per individual, making a year of lessons around $1200 per client. Thus, our goal is to provide one year of English classes for two of our sisters at Freedom Home.
Having a basic English certificate is a prerequisite for many desirable jobs, including local coffee shops, restaurants, hospitality, and tourism. Having this skill would greatly benefit our clients, giving them an advantage over other applicants. They are eager to begin learning.
This is the first time they have been asked to consider their future dreams and the first time they are being supported in a way that allows them to believe those dreams could one day be within their reach – so beautiful! In the few months/weeks they have been here, they are already experiencing some encouraging growth. -Sola, Regional Aftercare Coordinator of Freedom Home

As part of our call to all to be an everyday philanthropist, we regularly spotlight a project or program in the world. Our partner’s focus is in at least one of these five categories: human rights, education, health, community emergencies, and art-activism. We are blessed with a huge pool of changemakers in our community – so there is never a lack of trusted organizations with whom to partner.
This sort of “everyday philanthropy” is about an unrestrained generosity rooted in the reality of your everyday life. Generosity feels good. It is part of your purpose on the planet. It finds ways to share with others the treasure trove of whatever you have and whatever you love. It makes a difference with your small and large acts alike … living with a commitment and connection to your sisters and brothers near and far. Explore and discover your unique – right here and now – calling to be an everyday philanthropist today.
I get it: These stories and the very invitation to give and to BE philanthropists isn’t always comfortable. Or easy. Sometimes it’s the world’s pain pricking our hearts that wakes us up to see – and say yes! – to our destiny.
So, today and together, let’s dispute the suggestion that philanthropy is an exclusive club only for those deemed wealthy. Today and together, let’s dispute that the only thing that matters and makes a difference is giving in “big” ways. The movement that will be unleashed when we live as generously unrestrained philanthropists WILL light up the world.
You are loved.
We belong to each other.
Let’s standTALL together and light up the world!
