From Rescue to Resilience: Vocational Training & Anti-Trafficking Sisterhood | NEPAL

In November and December 2024, our Seeds Giving Fund raised just over $10,000 in a life-changing fundraiser in collaboration with Our Home Nepal (OHN), founded by our trusted friend and partner, Devisara Hannah Badi. 

Here’s what we did, together!

  1. Established a Human Trafficking Rescue Fund in order to provide critical resources for rescuing girls and women from brothels in India and Nepal. ($2,500)
  2. Enabled Vocational Training through supplying fabric and leather sewing machines to facilitate tailoring skills and income-generating opportunities. ($1,000)
  3. Supported Young Women’s Skill Development through funding training in soap-making, fashion design, chicken farming, and jewelry crafting, which equips young women with sustainable livelihood skills. ($6,500)

Funds were tax-exempt for U.S. donors, through OHN’s fiscal sponsor, Momentum Global.

ABOUT Our Home Nepal (OHN)

OHN is dedicated to rescuing and restoring young girls and women from remote, rural villages, many of whom have endured the trauma and injustice of sexual violence and human trafficking. OHN provides a nurturing home for girls who have aged out of dormitories for students through grade 10, and often have no other place to go.

While in OHN’s care and deeply supportive multi-generational community of women, these young women are able to pursue higher education and focus on subjects of their choice. OHN also equips them with life skills, including financial budgeting, cooking, and cleaning, as well as vocational training to help them start small businesses.

This holistic care enables each girl to achieve self-sufficiency and resilience as they transition into the next chapter of their lives, all while in company of a mighty sisterhood of support.
