JOIN our Seeds community in caring for a newly-arriving Afghan family who was evacuated from Afghanistan as part of Operation Allies Refuge. We would LOVE your support to provide what is needed as we are partner with Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains (LFSRM), who will match us with an Afghan family in need of support during their resettlement process.
If you would like us to contact you as needs arise, please email Sarah to be put on the volunteer contact list. Read through the list below and let us know if there are things you particularly love to do so we can match your gifts with the needs at hand.

Here is a list of what LFSRM expects will be needed by our Seeds team:

  • Raise $10,000 for LFSRM to use towards rent expenses during the family’s initial integration (JOIN us and DONATE as we aim to raise $10,000 for the resettlement needs of an Afghan family.)
  • Meet the family at the airport and transport to new home
  • Assist LFSRM in finding appropriate housing
  • Provide basic furnishings for initial housing
  • Assist with financial literacy
  • Assist with orientation to community
  • Assist in applying for government assistance programs
  • Assist with transportation to initial health screening
  • Provide initial clothing and other necessities
  • Assist with apartment set up prior to arrival of family
  • Help prepare adults to obtain and retain employment
  • Assist adults in learning English

About LFSRM: In 1975, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) contacted LFSRM to begin resettlement of refugees. Since that time, the LFSRM Refugee and Asylee Programs have helped people who have been uprooted by persecution and violence work towards self-sufficiency through essential resettlement services, including: housing, employment, English language, and cultural orientation.
